The Triumph of Nature
2012 is the year when humanity should fall according to the interpretation of the Maya calendar. Throughout the glorious history of humanity, other groups predicted the apocalypse. All these stories naturally foster the imagination of many artists such as me and Vera Cauwenberghs.
Dikkenek should be proud
Vera Cauwenberghs hails from Belgium where
she learnt how to paint and how to use watercolour and pastels. Her joyful and realistic creations will definitely bring sunshine to your life.
The theory of Apocalypse
Even though Vera’s painting looks shiny and vivid, it is darker than you think. The demise of humanity is no longer a myth but a fact in “the triumph of nature”. Just like in the movie “12 monkeys”, most humans died and nature took over the world. For instance, the painting shows a partly destroyed cathedral which is covered by moss.
Are we doomed to disappear?
The rebirth of Joy
Where there is dark, there is light. The end of mankind does not mean that it is all over. Indeed, a brand new era has begun:
- Mother Nature is brighter than ever
- Pollution is banned
- Birds fly idly.
- The world looks marvellous and full of happiness
In a way, one could say that this place is heaven. Can the world be better without us?
